Beef Week Open Day
2018 Beef Week
We were open on Day 2 of the Beef Week Field Days on Tuesday 30th January 2018. Conditions were Hot & dry! A good amount of visitors made up of existing Wirruna clients, agents and new people were keen to inspect the sale cattle and see the commercially focussed genetic program offered at Wirruna Poll Herefords. Many commented favourably on the fact that not just sale bulls were available for inspection but also a large representation of the females and sires in use at Wirruna.

Wirruna’s Breeding Objectives
“Wirruna’s breeding objective is to breed Bulls that are fully described and have the genetic & physical ability to meet market specifications and breeding objectives of the client. Keeping in mind that a balance is required where the female portion of the progeny are required to be highly fertile and efficient.”
Quality Beyond Genetics
The cattle are run under strict commercial stress conditions, at well above district average stocking rates, under a grass-fed production system.
There is no selection compromise for fertility. The trait of highest economic importance has the highest selection pressure for bulls and females. In selecting other traits, we seek a balanced approach.
