Wirruna AI Sires
The Wirruna herd was open to visitors on Day 1 of the Southern Beef Week Field Days on Monday 23rd July 2017. Conditions were cold, foggy and boggy in the yards. However, this did not deter the enthusiasm of visitors that were made up of existing Wirruna clients, agents and new people that were keen to inspect the sale cattle and understand the commercially focussed genetic program offered at Wirruna Poll Herefords. Many people commented favourably on the docility of the cattle and the muscle shown in the sale draft.
Offered in Spring Bull & Female Sale
Details of the 14 PTIC females offered as individual lots and 18 offered in group lots are now available for our 23rd August 2017 sale.
Wirruna’s Breeding Objectives
“Wirruna’s breeding objective is to breed Bulls that are fully described and have the genetic & physical ability to meet market specifications and breeding objectives of the client. Keeping in mind that a balance is required where the female portion of the progeny are required to be highly fertile and efficient.”
Quality Beyond Genetics
The cattle are run under strict commercial stress conditions, at well above district average stocking rates, under a grass-fed production system.
There is no selection compromise for fertility. The trait of highest economic importance has the highest selection pressure for bulls and females. In selecting other traits, we seek a balanced approach.
