Wirruna Spring Bull & Female Sale – Wednesday, August 26th, 2015
Bouyant Beef market fundamentals and some useful showers of rains helped the Wirruna Spring Sale post a highest ever sale average of $7,671 There was some enthusiastic bidding from both new and long term Wirruna bull clients. Buyers commented favourably on the condition of the bulls and the high level performance program with lots of calving ease, carcase traits and curve bending growth bull options.
Good stud interest was evident with the highest priced bull going to the Archer families, Chester & Quamby Plains (Lot 7 $19,000). Sam Broinowski, Vielun Pastoral Co. Coolah (Lot 3 $15,000) and James Pearce, Yavenvale (Lot 4 $17,000). The back bone of the sale came through very solid commercial interest with Gunnong, Jugiong taking home 7 bulls for an average of $6,679, Hancock Pastoral from Queensland taking home 3 heifers and bull (Lot 1 $9,250), Kelso grazing from Coolah, taking home 2 bulls (Lot 19 $7,500 & Lot 20 $12,000) and 2 heifers.
With buyer registrations from every state, except WA, the Locke family were delighted and humbled by the strong interest in the sale and support of the genetic program. Ian Locke commented “We were absolutely thrilled with the sale result and feel very enthused about the prospects for all beef industry participants who have been battling with only mediocre returns for too long.”
